Former deputy director of Palace Museum Yang Boda dies at age 94

Yang Boda, former deputy director of the Palace Museum, passed away in Beijing on Friday, according to the museum. He was 94.

The farewell ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Babaoshan funeral parlor on May 25.

Yang was a renowned expert on the research of art history as well as jade artifacts and culture. He wrote over 50 monographs and 480 dissertations on arts, history and archaeology. 

Yang graduated from the School of Arts at the North China University in 1948, which is now Renmin University of China. He worked as deputy director of the Palace Museum from 1984 and 1987.
