Photos taken on Thursday show cows wading through toxic foam in the polluted waters of the Yamuna River, one of the most sacred rivers in India's capital.
Considered holy by Hindu believers, the Yamuna overflows with thick toxic foam from time to time due to heavy pollution from industrial and household waste.
The polluted water is reported to severely impact both humans and animals alike, as the river is the source of drinking water for about one-third of New Delhi's 17 million population.
