People visited memorial sites set up in central China's Hunan Province and east China's Jiangxi Province on Sunday to pay their respects to Chinese agronomist Yuan Longping, "father of hybrid rice," who died at age 91 on Saturday.

Thousands of people braved rain on Sunday to pay tribute to Yuan at the funeral home in Changsha where his body is being kept.
