Memorial service for China's 'father of hybrid rice' in Changsha

A memorial service for Chinese agronomist and academician Yuan Longping was held in Changsha City, central China's Hunan Province on Monday. Yuan, dubbed "father of hybrid rice", died on Saturday at age 91. His lifelong research in high-yield rice varieties has helped feed millions around the world.
