A forest ranger spotted a very rare butterfly while patrolling in Daming Mountain National Nature Reserve in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
According to an insect expert, the butterfly is a golden Kaiser-i-Hind, which is under first-class state protection in China. It inhabits subtropical and tropical alpine areas, and has a short lifespan while its breeding is greatly affected by climate.
