Lavender boosts tourism in central China's Henan

Swathes of beautiful lavender are enticing large groups of tourists in Huaxian County in Anyang City, central China's Henan Province.

The planting area covers more than 13.33 hectares in a local ecological park, and the beautiful purple-blue flowers, as well as the fragrance, are beloved by the tourists who come to take photos.

"The flower field is really beautiful, and I feel relaxed and comfortable here. I think it's worth visiting. I'll take pictures with my family and treasure the memories," said Zheng Hanwen, a tourist.

The park with 36 varieties of plants provides more than 500 jobs for local villagers and boosts tourism.

"The lavender we plant is introduced from Ili of Xinjiang, with a total planting area of more than13.33 hectares. This year, we will keep develop lavender essential oil extraction, consumer products and sightseeing tourism. The estimated total number of tourists will reach 80,000 to 100,000 this year and the total turnover will reach 8 to 10 million yuan (about 1.56 million U.S. dollars)," said Ren Xiaoliang, a staff member of the lavender field.
