EU extends sanctions against Syria by another year

The European Union (EU) has extended sanctions against Syria for one additional year, until June 1, 2022, the European Council said in a statement on Thursday.

The sanctions include a ban on the import of oil, restrictions on certain investments, and a freeze of the assets of the central bank of Syria held in the EU, according to the statement.
