Baihetan Hydropower Station is situated downstream from the Jinsha River on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in southwest China. It is the largest power plant currently under construction in the world and boasts six world records related to six technical indexes.

The first set of the plant's units is estimated to start generating electricity on July 1 this year. After being fully operational by the end of 2022, with a total installed capacity of 16 gigawatts, it will become the world's second largest hydropower station.
