Baihetan Hydropower Station, located on the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze River, straddling Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, is the world's second-largest after the Three Gorges Dam project in the central province of Hubei in terms of installed capacity. The construction kicked off in 2013 with the first set of its plant's units is estimated to start generating electricity on July 1.
