The State Council Information Office (SCIO) on Monday held a press briefing on the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan of China (2016-2020). The major targets and tasks outlined in the plan included safeguarding citizens' economic, social and cultural rights and enforcing the law in a strict, procedure-based manner to protect citizens' personal rights and dignity. China has also made great efforts to ensure the rights of women, children, the elderly, ethnic minorities and other minority groups.
