After five years, the crying hero and the robot cat that can help him solve any problem still hits many people's soft spot.

The Japanese 3-D movie "Stand by Me Doraemon 2" dominated China's box office on June 1st, International Children's Day, with daily revenue of 55.22 million yuan (about $8.68 million), according to Chinese movie ticketing platform Maoyan. It is expected to become the second Japanese animation to break 200 million yuan at the box office this year.

The film "Stand by Me Doraemon 2" is the second and final work of Doraemon's "Stand by Me" series. The plot is warm and tearful.

Nobita found the bear doll that his grandma had sewed for him when he was a child, so he begged Doraemon to take him to the past to visit her. After the two reunited, grandma asked to see Nobita's bride, and Nobita and Doraemon came to the day when Nobita and Shizuka get married in the future.

It is worth mentioning that "Stand by Me Doraemon 2" is also a commemorative film for the 50th anniversary of the birth of Doraemon. The film takes the wedding of Nobita and Shizuka as its biggest selling point, giving many fans who watched them grow from childhood a chance to "realize their dreams".

For many Doraemon fans who grew up watching the series, Nobita epitomizes millions of ordinary people. As a child, Nobita was an academically and athletically poor student; he grew up to be average in looks, has a normal job, and his financial situation is also very ordinary.

Is someone so ordinary and even a little "useless" worthy of happiness?

The movie gave the audience a very positive answer.

"The magic of Doraemon is that he creates dreams for us inside the movie, and all that Nobita has is what we want to have. But even if he has Doraemon, he still needs to overcome his own cowardice and grow on his own," netizens on Weibo commented after watching the film.

"Once, I thought that if I worked hard enough, Doraemon would come to me. Later, I realized that my loving family, my friends who helped me, my teachers who guided me were all Doraemon in my life," commented a Doraemon fan on Douban, China's major film rating platform.
