South China's Guangdong adopts COVID-19 containment measures ahead of Gaokao
China's national college entrance examination, or Gaokao, is scheduled to be held on Sunday and Monday. The southern province of Guangdong reported 10 locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 and seven asymptomatic cases on Tuesday. Provincial authorities are taking special virus containment measures for Gaokao, mandating nucleic acid tests as well as health monitoring of candidates for two weeks before the exam. Students who test positive for the virus can still sit for the exam at designated medical facilities. In addition, all personnel managing the exam are required to be fully vaccinated.
