Education – a key factor behind China's anti-corruption drive

In 1827, Chinese thinker Gong Zizhen wrote, "If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self and achieve nothing." In 2016, Xi Jinping quoted Gong's poem to highlight the necessity of strict governance of the CPC. The word "corruption" comes from the Latin "corruptus." It means abusing public power for private gains, like taking bribes or kickbacks. To prevent corruption, one needs to fight a corrupt mind.
