Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday sent a message of sympathy to Namibian President Hage Geingob after learning that the Namibian first couple contracted COVID-19.

In his message, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan extended sympathy to them and wished them a speedy recovery. 

Xi also noted that China and Namibia have been working together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively deepening the bilateral friendship.

"I attach great importance to the development of China-Namibia relations and am willing to work with President Geingob to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level," he said.
