The U.S. has blacklisted 59 Chinese companies allegedly tied to military and surveillance efforts. The firms include Huawei Technologies and China's three biggest telecommunications companies. 

Experts see the move as a sign that the Biden administration is continuing some of the hard-line China policies put in place by his predecessor Donald Trump.
