The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Saturday condemned and firmly opposed the "clumsy political show" staged by the consulates-general of the U.S. and several other Western countries in HKSAR on Friday.

While emphasizing that Hong Kong is part of China and that its affairs are China's internal affairs, a spokesperson of the office in a statement urged the organs of relevant countries in Hong Kong to immediately stop "such futile political farce", stop meddling in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs at large, and "avoid playing with fire."
