The EU has officially launched its COVID-19 certificate gateway, a system to verify whether travelers have been vaccinated, tested negative or recovered from COVID-19. It offers the promise of hassle-free travel around Europe this summer. 

"This will favor mobility across the continent, increasing tourism and other activities", said Roberto Cauda, professor of Infectious Diseases at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in an interview with CGTN. He also emphasized that the ultimate goal is to have a global approach to reduce the risk of new variants and make vaccines globally available.
