Peruvian presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori on Monday alleged "irregularities" and "signs of fraud" in Sunday's election as her rival, Pedro Castillo, took a razor-thin lead in the vote count, AFP reported.
According to local media, Castillo had 50.26 percent of the vote, a slight lead over Fujimori who had 49.74 percent, with nearly 96 percent of ballots tallied early on Monday evening.
Fujimori, the 46-year-old daughter of ex-president Alberto Fujimori, however pledged to abide by the will of the people.
Castillo, a 51-year-old rural teacher and activist, also urged his followers to respect the results whatever the outcome.
