Two Chinese employees of a mining company near western Niger's borders with Mali and Burkina Faso were kidnapped by armed men, Tillaberi region's Governor Ibrahim Tijani Katiella told AFP on Monday. 

Upon learning of it, the Chinese Embassy in Niger immediately launched an emergency response mechanism and made all-out efforts to rescue them, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
