Calling Cambodia China's close partner, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday hailed the "unbreakable ties" with the Southeast Asian country.

Wang specifically mentioned the two countries' joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, saying it is delivering hope for further cooperation in all sectors.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, who is now in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality for a Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Dialogue Relations.

He also touched on the deep friendship between the two countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and the award to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China.

China stands ready to continue strategic communication with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and will further promote the building of the community with a shared future with Cambodia, Wang said.

Meanwhile, the Cambodian official first congratulated China on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its achieving victory in the battle against poverty on schedule. That shows that the path China's taking is absolutely correct, he said.

He also thanked China for its support during the pandemic, vowing to continue cooperation in areas including agriculture, education, infrastructure and telecommunications.
