After a 13-year search, Maayan, a survivor of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, has finally met her rescuer. Badly injured in the quake, the Israeli student and her friends were helped by local villager Jiangwei, who led them on a 12-hour walk to reach Chengdu, where they finally received medical treatment.

Maayan suffered a severe jaw injury and was unable to say "thank you" when they departed. As a result, she regretted it for 13 years. After returning to Israel, she spent the next 13 years inquiring about the whereabouts of Jiangwei from her friends and the local council.

Finally, she realized her dream last month through the help of a friend and the consulate general of Israel in Chengdu.
