The number of cases of black fungus, or mucormycosis, has grown over 150 percent over the last three weeks in India, reported NDTV on Friday.

The country has reported 31,216 cases and 2,109 deaths due to black fungus in the last three weeks, putting additional stress on an already embattled healthcare system fighting off the deadly second surge of COVID wave, according to the report.
