Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un on Friday called for boosting the nation's military power at a Central Military Commission meeting, DPRK's state media KCNA said on Saturday.
The meeting called for a "high-alert posture" against the "recent fast-changing" situation on the Korean Peninsula, said KCNA, adding that it also addressed military organizational issues of dismissals, transfers and appointments.
Kim discussed "important tasks" to make "a fresh turn in the overall work of national defense," KCNA said without elaborating.
A plenary meeting of the central committee of the country's ruling Workers' Party of Korea is planned for later in June.
