China saw more than 89 million domestic tourist trips during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, up by 94.1 percent from last year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said Monday.
Tourism revenue reached 29.43 billion yuan ($4.6 billion), up by 139.7 percent from last year, according to the ministry.
However, both the number of trips and tourism revenue this year are lower than pre-pandemic levels, recovering 98.7 and 74.8 percent respectively, per the ministry.
Total passenger trips made during the holiday are expected to reach 124 million, the Ministry of Transport added on Monday.
The average daily passenger trips will likely exceed 41.23 million during the period, up by 52.5 percent year on year, the data showed, and down by 18.8 percent compared with 2019.
The Dragon Boat Festival holiday lasts from June 12 to 14 this year.
