Last year, China announced that it had eradicated absolute poverty nationwide, lifting millions of people above the poverty line. Xia Lu, an associate professor at the School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, said China's economic development model has shifted from the pursuit of efficiency to that of equality.
