Indonesia has reported more than 12,000 new COVID-19 infections. The country's health ministry says Thursday's figure is the biggest increase since January. As the number of confirmed cases rises, the government is tightening restrictions on corporate and civic activities. Local authorities have designated some districts where infections are spreading as red zones. They are warning the public to stay alert against the spread of the Delta variant. To date, total infections in Indonesia are approaching two million, with more than 53,000 deaths.
