China claimed their sixth straight win after beating Poland 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16) in the women's Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy on Saturday, although the victory was not enough to send them into the last four, following Turkey's 3-1 win over South Korea which granted Turkey the last berth in the semis.
The first set was the toughest for China, as Poland leveled the score at 24-24, despite a timely timeout requested by Chinese head coach Lang Ping. Gong Xiangyu and Zhang Changning's spikes made sure China sealed the deal in the first set smoothly.
Poland put up a fight in the second set, tying with China at 15-15. They led 21-20 at one point but were not able to win this set.
The last set saw Poland collapse as China quickly took it to 16-8 and finished on 25-16.
Zhang Changning scored game-high 21 points, followed by compatriot Li Yingying with 18. Super spiker Zhu Ting did not play the match.
China next face the U.S. in round 15 on Sunday, which is also China's last match in this tournament.
The U.S., Brazil, Japan and Turkey will kick off the semifinals on June 24.
