Shanghai Intl Film Festival unveils winners at closing ceremony

The 24th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) unveiled the winners of this year's Golden Goblet Awards during its closing ceremony Saturday night.

Chinese film "Manchurian Tiger" was awarded the Golden Goblet Award for Best Feature Film, while Malaysian film "Barbarian Invasion" grabbed the Jury Grand Prix award.

Russian film "The Conscience" took home three awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Outstanding Artistic Achievement, while Iranian film "The Contrary Route" grabbed two awards – Best Director and Best Actor. The Best Actress award went to Polish film "Amateurs."

"Sisyphus" from Mexico took home the Best Documentary Film. The film "Even Mice Belong In Heaven," co-produced by the Czech Republic, France and Poland, won the Best Animation Film award.

In the short film section, Chinese film "Double Helix" was awarded the Best Live Action Short Film while French film "Mild Madness, Lasting Lunacy" won the Best Animated Short Film.

China Media Group (CMG) used 4k ultra-high definition technology to live broadcast the closing ceremony.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The ceremony had a section paying tribute to landmark films with revolutionary history themes in Chinese movie history.

The SIFF is the only A-class cinematographic event in China. In 2020, the 23rd SIFF was the world's first A-class film festival held in person since the COVID-19 outbreak. This year's SIFF had the largest attendance of any A-class cinematographic event worldwide.

The event received 4,443 films from 113 countries and regions. Starting from June 11, it will draw its curtain on June 20.
