The summer solstice, or Xiazhi, reflects the change of the four seasons. On this day, the sun reaches its northernmost point of the year, almost directly above the Tropic of Cancer. Daytime in all parts of the northern hemisphere is the longest in a whole year, and the further it goes northward, the longer daytime gets.
