More than 30 percent of Lankao County is covered in forest in central China's Henan Province. Most of the trees growing there are Paulownia, which are not only resistant to sandstorms and saline soil. The wood from the Paulownia tree is versatile and used to make musical instruments. Now Lankao has more than 200 factories, producing over 20 different kinds of musical instruments, taking up 40 percent of the national market.
