Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven lost a no-confidence vote in the parliament on Monday.

The vote was put forward last week by the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats over a proposal of Lofven's Social Democrats to ease rent controls on newly built apartments.

Lofven now faces a choice of either calling a snap election or standing down and letting parliamentary speaker try to find a new prime minister.
