Nine people were killed and seven others were injured after bricks from a building fell on people in Longyan City, southeast China's Fujian Province on Tuesday.

The incident happened at around 11:40 a.m. local time when people were taking part in a banquet held next to the building. 

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
