Beijing on Wednesday criticized an Australian foreign trade official's remarks that China's assertiveness was driven by insecurity and ambition. The Chinese foreign ministry said the comments were "totally inconsistent with the facts." It also hit back at a research institute report suggesting that more people viewed China as a security threat.
