A leading virologist has warned against politicizing the search for the origin of the novel coronavirus.

Dominic Dwyer is a member of the WHO's joint study team on the origins of viruses. Writing in the Guardian, he said "lab leak" theories range from accidental to deliberate and even state-sponsored. He said these claims are easy to make and understand and cater to political discourse. But he said no clear evidence has emerged that any of these theories are true.
