Chinese telecommunications manufacturing enterprise China Potevio Corp. has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), bringing the two national telecommunications giants into one, according to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) on Wednesday.
China Potevio and CETC are both large national central enterprises and their business covers the information communication industry and other related fields. The restructuring is expected to tap the new potential of strategic emerging industries and defense electronics industry.
SASAC said China Potevio will no longer be under the management of the SASAC after the restructuring.
China Potevio has five listed companies with about 20,000 employees. The group focuses on the manufacturing and marketing of telecommunication products. It has established research and development and industrial bases in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the central and western regions and abroad, said its website.
CETC is a backbone enterprise directly managed by the central government. As a major force of China's defense electronics, security electronics and informatization, it owns 47 national-level research institutes and over 500 enterprises and institutions, including 11 listed companies. It also has 35 national key laboratories, research and innovation centers. It has entered into the Fortune Global 500 list for many years, and secured the 381st position last year, according to its website.
