Over 160 flights assist lychee farmers in COVID-hit Guangdong

Authorities from southern China's Guangdong Province recently ordered emergency deployment of 162 flights for the transportation of lychee amid the latest COVID-19 outbreak.

Almost 3,000 tons of lychee have been transported out of Guangdong by the 162 flights operated by China Southern Airline, according to local news reports.

The latest spike of COVID-19 cases in Guangdong led to mass cancellation of flights departing the province, causing difficulties in the air transportation of the locally-grown lychee.
