On June 28, Baihetan Hydropower Station's first batch of units will start generating electricity. Located downstream from the Jinsha River on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in southwest China, Baihetan Hydropower Station is the world's largest power plant currently under construction, the world's largest installed capacity of a single generating unit, and the world's second-largest in terms of overall installed capacity. It is a major source of power for China's west-to-east power transmission project and is expected to make a great contribution to the country's efforts to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
