Zhang Guimei, a 64-year-old principal and founder of a school in Huaping County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, has been helping girls from impoverished areas pursue education for over 40 years. She was among the 29 outstanding members of the Communist Party of China (CPC), who were awarded CPC's top honor July 1 Medals at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Tuesday.
