Tokyo has decided to move the Olympic torch relay off public roads in the first eight days, the metropolitan government said on Tuesday, citing concerns over COVID-19 spread. 

From July 9 to 16, the first eight days of the 15-day relay, torch-lighting ceremonies will be held without spectators and the relay will not be held on public roads, the metropolitan government said. 

Relays in the islands area will be kept on public roads.
