Splendid fireworks illuminated the night sky over the Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Heralded by the first set of fireworks, which displayed the number 100, an art performance titled "Epic Journey" was staged at the National Stadium on Monday evening.
