Bageqi Village in Moyu County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was identified as one of China's most poverty-stricken villages back in 2014. By 2018, 277 households with 1,001 residents in the village had been lifted out of poverty. We met Umarjan Mamat, first secretary of the village's CPC branch, who told us the story of a fortune made from a special breed of sheep.
