What has China done to protect human rights in the past century?

China's State Council Information Office issued a white paper on the practice of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in respecting and protecting human rights. Released just before the centenary of the CPC, the white paper underlines the efforts and progress that China has made in human rights protection. At the same time, the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva is holding its 47th session to discuss human rights situations. What has China done to protect human rights in the past century? What are the pressing challenges for global human rights governance now?
