Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved an updated Russian National Security Strategy, according to a decree that was published on the official legal website on Saturday.

The updated strategy aims at significantly improving the well-being of the population, strengthening Russia's defense capabilities, cementing internal unity, and achieving national development goals, according to Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
