Four Chinese military officers have been promoted to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.

Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, presented the officers with certificates of order signed by him at a ceremony in Beijing on Monday.

Earlier, Xi signed an order to confer an honorary counter-terrorism title to a special operations squadron of the armed police force in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
