The Communist Party of China has not just changed the destiny of China, but the route to world's development, said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesdy in a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. 

Mitsotakis hailed the progress China has made in poverty alleviation by describing it as "a miracle of human progress history."

Beijing has declared victory in country's fight against absolute poverty, with nearly 100 million people in rural areas who had lived below the poverty line lifted out of their impoverished living conditions.

Mitsotakis told Xi that he believes that China will continue to make new achievements under Xi's leadership.

On his side, Xi first spoke highly of the relationship between China and Greece. The two countries are both ancient civilizations and shared similar ideologies in the progress of human civilizations and the evolution of international order, Xi noted.

The year 2021 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Xi called for more practical cooperation in deepening the two sides' traditional friendship.

Mitsotakis concurred, stressing deepen ties in fields including trade, tourism and green development. The Greek prime minister also welcomed more Chinese companies to invest in his country, and send out his best wishes for China's Winter Olympic Games, which is set to convene next February.

Greece is in support of the European Union for its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, he added, also hoping to see strengthening communication and cooperation between the bloc and China.
