Southwest China's Yunnan Province reported 15 confirmed and two asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, said local health authorities on Wednesday.
All of the 15 are cases of local transmission of the virus in Ruili City. Of these cases, 13 are new and two were previously reported to be asymptomatic. In addition, two more asymptomatic cases were detected through the city's mass nucleic acid testing campaign, the authorities said.
The gene sequencing of seven cases has been completed in Ruili, and the results show that the cases are highly homologous to the Delta variant of the virus, city officials said at a press conference.
The Guomen Community in Ruili City's Jiegao has been classified as a virus high-risk area.
