U.S. attempts to sow trouble in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, under the pretext of human rights and for the sake of containing China's development, will not prevail, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin at a regular briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang's rebuttal came a day after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with so-called Uygurs who claim they had been detained in "internment camps" in Xinjiang.
