Chinese mainland reports 17 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland recorded 17 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, two cases of local transmission of the virus in southwest China's Yunnan Province and 15 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

In addition, 10 new asymptomatic cases, all from overseas, were recorded, while 470 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 91,966, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,945 (11,643 recoveries, 212 deaths)

Macao: 55 (53 recoveries)

Taiwan: 15,128 (11,277 recoveries, 715 deaths)
