Former South African President Jacob Zuma was taken into custody on Wednesday night after handing himself in to serve 15 months in jail for contempt of court.

Police ministry spokesperson Lirandzu Themba confirmed Zuma was in the care of the police service in compliance with a constitutional court judgment.
