China's only police station in a man-made cave
01:05

Yadan police station was founded in March 2001 in Yadan National Geological Park in Dunhuang, northwest China's Gansu Province. The station, made by hollowing out a wall of soft stone, is the only police station in China to be built in a man-made cave. Building the 260-square-meter station, which features offices, a dormitory, a bathroom and a dining room, took officers 20 years.

Despite the tough conditions, the police officers stuck to their task of preserving order in the park and protecting the safety and property of tourists. Over the past 24 years, the police officers have completed about 200 rescue missions and rescued 26 people from danger.
